Donald Trump has maintained his frontrunner position for months without spending any money on TV ads, using bombast to attract copious media coverage for free. Now, that changes with his first TV ad titled "Great Again."

Any doubt that Trump was flip about his proposal to ban Muslims from entering the country is hereby erased, as the polarizing plan is the centerpiece of the spot.

Trump Slams Clinton and Obama on Terrorism

The ad begins with a two-shot of President Obama and Hillary Clinton bleeding into images of the San Bernardino killers, as the narrator intones, "The politicians can pretend it's something else but Donald Trump calls it 'radical Islamic terrorism.'"

Of course, all the other Republican candidates call it that too. But only Trump is “calling for a temporary shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until we can figure out what's going on." Left unsaid is that one of the San Bernardino terrorists shown a few seconds prior was American, born and raised

Trump Questions His Own Ad Strategy

Breezing past the charge that Trump knows little about foreign policy, the narrator asserts: "He'll quickly cut the head of off ISIS, and take their oil." And no Trump ad would be complete without the pledge to build "a wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for."

Will this ad work? Donald Trump doesn't necessarily think so! He told CBS' Face The Nation: "I think I'm probably wasting the money ... But I'm $35 million under budget ... So what I'm going to do is I'm going to spend a little money. I want to be certain. I want to be sure."
