Super Bowl Sunday this year will feature a showdown between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. But the commercials that air during the game have become almost as important as the game itself. Known to many as the time when the most amazing or controversial or sentimental ads air, there is already chatter about what we can expect this year (including this groundbreaking domestic violence ad, but not this GoDaddy ad) in the infamously expensive ad spots. It looks like the American Petroleum Institute is looking to have their 30 seconds of fame this year, too, with this $100,000 ad spot to promote the continuation of hydraulic fracturing or fracking and, of course, to also quietly promote the movement on the Keystone Pipeline. Check out this great write-up by the Sunlight Foundation on the ad buy.
