The Iowa caucus is only weeks away and the deeply religious Ted Cruz leads the Republican pack in the notoriously evangelical state. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who has been in an ad war with Cruz for weeks, is trying to slow the Texas Senator’s momentum by matching his level of religious dedication with his latest ad, “Faith.”

The 30-second T.V. spot, features a relaxed Rubio speaking plainly about his faith in God, and the daily “struggle” as a Christian – to remind ourselves, as he puts it, that “the purpose of our life is to cooperate with God’s plan.”

W.W.T.C.D., or ‘What Would Ted Cruz Do?’

Conservative Iowa caucus voters have a reputation for being very religious – and in this campaign cycle, they have also had a bit of a reputation for being relatively undecided.

These voters were once fond of Scott Walker, then they fell in love with Ben Carson, and are now hung-up on Ted Cruz. Marco Rubio is hoping that Iowa’s fling with Cruz will be equally short-lived – and that he will be able to woo the voting bloc just in time for caucusing.

It may sound like a long shot, but Rubio has recently added a religious advisory board to his campaign. He even snagged the endorsement of the highly influential Saddleback Church pastor, Rick Warren.

So maybe miracles do come true.
