Produced in 1944 during World War II, this propaganda effort creatively explains the necessity of book rationing and price ceilings. Starring two young women who initially fail to see the point of these government mandates, this propaganda film employs a dream sequence to show a world without ration points and set prices.

The extreme results of prices spiraling out of control and food shortages is enough to make them realize that, while inconvenient, these measures are necessary for the good of the country. The Office of War Information’s production does an exemplary job of framing a serious issue in an easily accessible and convincing manner using an entertaining movie to push a more serious agenda.
