Women Lured to Military for Both Their Country’s Sake and Their Own
Women served in a much more limited capacity during World War II than they do today, but they were targeted by propaganda even in the 1940s.

This poster featured women from all branches of the armed forces. It did not advocate enlistment solely for the sake of patriotic duty.

It also presented enlistment as an investment in one’s future.

By appealing to a woman’s desire to serve her country as well as her interest in furthering her own career, this poster used timeless sentiments to influence its target audience.
